ACR Poker will make its ScreenShield table-protection feature active by default for every player on the Winning Poker Network on Nov. 4. The setting is intended to prevent covered screen-capture and screen-sharing methods from exposing table content, including hole cards, while leaving the poker client usable normally for the player.
Players who need to stream, record sessions, create content or work with a coach will be able to switch the feature off from a dedicated page in the client settings. Before the network-wide change, ScreenShield could be requested through support, and activation could take as long as 48 hours.
As reported Sept. 29, WPN had initially activated ScreenShield for players whose devices met its detection criteria for remote-access, screen-control or screen-capture software. The wider rollout follows concerns that a compromised device could expose information visible on a player’s screen.
The network said it had reviewed more than 2 million hands played by users whose devices had MeshAgent detected. It found no evidence in those reviewed hands that a player used knowledge of opponents’ hole cards while playing on WPN.
About 200,000 of the reviewed hands involved Paul Gregg. WPN said it found no evidence that Gregg could see opponents’ cards or used hole-card knowledge to make decisions on the network. F5Poker reported that the review did not itself establish that any device had been compromised or that cheating had occurred, and that WPN said its systems, poker software and official downloads had not been compromised.
WPN is also evaluating a broader policy that could bar third-party software from running alongside its poker client. No final policy has been adopted. The review is considering whether tighter limits can reduce security and game-integrity risks without unnecessarily interfering with legitimate uses of software.
The company has shared information with other online poker operators about introducing ScreenShield protection.
