BetMGM opened pre-registration in Alberta ahead of the province’s regulated iGaming market launch on July 13. The site is not yet live, but sign-ups are open for players who want to be ready when the market opens.
RotoWire reported that would-be customers can use PLAY NOW links on BetMGM’s page to start the process early. Gambling.com said the idea is to enter details, verify identity and have a fully active account waiting on day one.
BetMGM says a single Alberta account will cover sportsbook, casino and poker. The company is also confirmed on the AGLC Gaming Registrations list and is expected to be among the first wave of operators live at launch.
The Alberta market is moving from a government-run model to an open, multi-operator one under the iGaming Alberta Act. Bonus.com said the regulated online casino and sportsbook market will give players legal access to nearly 50 operators for the first time.
BetMGM’s Alberta-facing pages highlight deposit limits, loss limits, session time reminders, reality checks, cooling-off periods and self-exclusion options. Those tools are presented as settings players can manage directly from their account.
Alberta’s Standards and Requirements for Internet Gaming put those controls at the centre of registered operators’ obligations, according to gamingcompliance.io. The framework requires deposit and loss limits to be available during registration, sets minimum limit periods of 24 hours, 7 days and one month, and imposes a 24-hour delay before a player can loosen or remove a limit.
The same rules treat break-in-play as separate from self-exclusion, with breaks available for one day, one week, one month, two months and three months. While a break is in force, wagering stops, but the player can still access account balance, profile information and responsible-gambling features.
BetMGM Casino is also integrated with Alberta’s centralized self-exclusion register, which automatically blocks access for anyone who has self-excluded provincially. The system is described as digital and API-integrated, and once self-exclusion begins, any active wager must be brought to an end.
